A shoulder-to-shoulder crush of painted steel, snug against a damp brickwork. Their long bodies are secrets, swallowed by the tight mooring, leaving only a bright barricade of bows. Emerald, crimson, mustard, cobalt. A gallery of blunt noses thrust forward. Thick rope fenders droop like heavy woven beards beneath proud brass rings and twisting painted roses.
