Old Wave Breaker
Old Wave Breaker
Salt-heavy breaths, in and out, thrash the shoreline,
a relentless metronome against the vulnerable timber ribs.
Once, these posts stood sharp, defiant against the ocean expanse.
Now, they lean like tired teeth in the sand.
The water does not bite; it gnaws; Slowly. Smoothing the splinters. Carving hollows where green algae clings.
Day by day, tide by tide, the sea steals the oak grain by grain.
