Family Day Out

The afternoon sun dappled the grassy riverbank where Mum and Dad sat comfortably on a woven picnic blanket, quietly enjoying the tranquil scene unfolding before them. A few yards away, the gentle babble of the river was punctuated by the joyful splashing of their elder son and daughter, who were happily paddling bare legged in the cool, shallow currents. Between them and the shore, their youngest son waded intently through the reeds, his small hands firmly gripping a brightly coloured fishing net as he scoured the clear water for minnows, completely absorbed in his watery world.
