Perseus
Perseus
Heat blistered the polished surface of his bronze shield, but Perseus did not waver. Around him, the ancient pillars of the Gorgon’s temple groaned and fractured, consumed by a roaring inferno that painted the suffocating smoke in violent shades of amber and crimson. He moved through the destruction not as a frightened mortal, but as the chosen son of Zeus—measured, silent, and absolute. Trusting only the mirrored world caught in Athena’s aegis, he tracked the frantic, hissing silhouettes of serpent hair through the haze. When Medusa struck, fuelled by the desperation of her burning sanctuary, Perseus pivoted effortlessly on the ash-slicked stones and brought his adamantine sword down in one perfect, blinding arc. Her final shriek was swallowed instantly by the roaring flames, leaving the hero standing alone in the firelight, his terrible prize secured.
