September
A September evening sun starts to dip lower to the horizon, in the last few hours of light for the day. The steady rumble of a tractor echoes in the cooling autumn air. Heavy steel ploughs rhythmically slice through the stubble, rolling over thick ribbons of dark, damp loam and releasing the rich scent of freshly turned earth, and worms. A chaotic cloud of white gulls descended upon the newly formed furrows. With sharp cries that pierced the twilight, the birds hopped and scrambled over the jagged clods of dirt, engaging in an opportunistic frenzy as they feasted on the squirming prey suddenly exposed to the fading light.
